Trends in Pediatric Palliative Care – Visuals and Analysis of Trends: January-December 2019

By Prubjot Gill, Student Librarian

Every year we look back at the citation lists we’ve published and share our data in the hopes of informing the pediatric palliative research community about which journals are being published in most often, which authors are featured most often, and the impact factors assigned to those publications.

This year we had 311 publications spread across twelve lists. These included journal articles, dissertations, conference publications and editorials. From these 311 publications the majority were published in 2019.

This year, we compiled a list of top journals that appeared five or more times in our citation lists in 2019. Many of the same journals appeared in the top 10 as last year. The Journal of Pain and Symptom Management appears the most (25 times), Journal of Palliative Medicine 22 times, and Archives of Disease and Childhood appeared 13 times

From the top journals, the journals with the highest impact factors were Pediatrics (5.417), Palliative Medicine (4.956), and the Journal of Pediatrics (3.739).

We also compiled a list of the most common authors that appeared 5 or more times in our citation lists during 2019. Of these authors, 19 appeared 5 or more times. The top 3 authors were Joanne Wolfe (15 times), Justin Baker (8 times) and Myra Bluebond-Langner and Meaghann S. Weaver tied for third place each with 7.
